The staff at Texas Heritage Protection is proud to announce that we are one step closer in passing laws that will address the state’s growing litter and illegal dumping problems.
As many of you know, Texas Heritage Protection has spent the last two years education state lawmakers and the public about litter and illegal dumping. Litter and illegal dumping can seem like simple problems at first glance, but creating and maintaining systems that ensure our state’s natural heritage is taken care of become complex quickly.
As of now, House Bill 1884 — which allows judges to sentence a litterer to up to 60 hours of community service picking up litter — is set to be heard on the house floor Thursday, May 3rd. In a state legislative session full of inaction, we are glad lawmakers have chosen to continue to try and ensure our local communities remain litter-free.
